Unfortunately, we do not have the resources required to modify our patterns to fit other-than-published sizes based on customer request. We have included some information that you may find helpful in attempting to modify our patterns for yourself.
Pattern modification is based on gauge. By understanding the number of rows and stitches that you are knitting/crocheting in a 4" x 4" square (minimum size to accurately swatch), you are able to determine the number of rows and stitches you require to knit/crochet any shape you can dream up. While this exercise is mainly mathematical and based on preportion, it is an exercise in artistry as well and many people learn how to modify patterns through hard-won experience and hands-on classes.
Many local yarn stores will offer pattern modification classes. In addition to yarn stores, events such as CGOA/TKGA and Stitches offer workshops in pattern modification.
Although we are unaware of any websites that offer info on pattern modification, there are 2 currently available books we know of that offer some instruction in modifying a pattern:
The Joy
of Knitting Companion by Lisa Myers
The
Knitter's Handy Book of Patterns by Ann Budd
