Asymmetric Poncho Crochet Pattern

SDS-003
Crochet Poncho Pattern - Not a Finished Garment

One pattern - multiple ponchos! Choose a wooly thick and thin yarn for cold weather wear, or a bulky weight ribbon yarn for warmer weather and evenings:

  • For warmer weather and evenings: Similar to the Anthropologie and Murielle ponchos, this poncho is the perfect "barely-there layer" for summer. This poncho looks great with jeans and a skimpy tank top or as a cover-up at the beach.
  • For cold weather: Wear this poncho with a pair of boots and skirt or jeans for a warm and wonderful way to look good when the weather turns chilly.
No matter which yarn you use to work it, the poncho has a sensuous feel, a luxurious drape and looks woven instead of crocheted due to usage of Tunisian (Afghan) crochet techniques and a very large hook. Best of all, the poncho is SUPER EASY to make, you can finish the poncho in a single weekend!

After some trial and error due to my lack of reading the pattern, then my brain cramps in sewing the poncho...I finished the poncho....I absolutely loved it. I made one for my oldest daughter, then another for myself....WOW!!! Jennifer's patterns are fantastic and worth every penny, since you can use them again and again...not to mention that changing yarns gives you a whole new look and texture everytime, without sacrificing the style of the finished product. Thanks Jennifer, you're the greatest!-Mel in OK

My daughter ordered your Asmmetric Poncho pattern and asked me to make one for her. We like it so much, I made one for myself with a different yarn, and another for her in a different color and texture. I have had SO many complements on mine which I made with a multi-colored yarn of fall colors! Thanks for the great design! Once I figured out that Tunisian stitch it went really fast... and it is very forgiving of my irregular and unskilled crocheting. -Betty O

This is my absolute favorite poncho pattern. I made my first with the Colinette Gioto and I never fail to get a compliment on it whenever I wear it. This pattern is easy and it works up really fast! I've got at least one in different textures for every season.
